Jul 26, 2008  Right now the first three lines of my license file look like this: SERVER KrishanENGPC ANY 28000@KrishanENGPC VENDOR ugslmd DAEMON lmgrd 'C:Program FilesUGSUGSLicensinglmgrd.exe' I also tried to use the ugslmd.exe file, but it has also not worked. Nov 11, 2013  10:17:19 (lmgrd) xilinxd exited with status 25 (Invalid host) 10:17:19 (lmgrd) Please correct problem and restart daemons. I don't understand how the hostID can be wrong when the license file was provided by the license generation web page. Any suggestions?

  1. UPGRADE YOUR BROWSER. We have detected your current browser version is not the latest one. Xilinx.com uses the latest web technologies to bring you the best online experience possible.
  2. Wrong hostid on SERVER line for license file. We've been serving up a floating license for quite some time now and the original administrator has left the company since. No one notices when everything runs smoothly, but unfortunately we've now had the network card go bad and we are scratching our heads as to how to rehost.
  3. The FlexLM License Manager Daemon (lmgrd) interprets the license file to dispatch license requests to different license vendor daemons. This document is a short account of the format and syntax of the license file, and its effect on licensed applications’ utilization.

Issue:

When running LMTools Perform Status Enquiry, there is an error ;
[Detecting lmgrd processes..]
Error getting status: Invalid returned data from license server system.
Hostname: Server IP Address
License path: 2080@Server IP Address
FlexNet Licensing error:-12,16

Solution:

1. Remove ADSK_LICENSE_FILE environment variable '2080@Server IP Address' from System > Advacned Settings
* ADSK_LICENSE_FILE environment variable = 27000~27009@Server IP Address
2. Check up 'LMTOOLS ignores license file path environment variables' from LMTools > Service/License File

Issue:

When performing a Status Enquiry in the Network License Manager (LMTOOLS), the following output is given:
lmgrd is not running: Cannot connect to license server system.
The license server manager (lmgrd) has not been started yet,
the wrong port@host or license file is being used, or the
port or hostname in the license file has been changed.
Server name: Servername
License path: @Servername
FlexNet Licensing error:-15,570

Causes:

One or multiple causes could be contributing to this message
  • Remnants from a previous LMTOOLS installation on the computer with another lmgrd.exe still running
  • Server did not start properly.
  • Antivirus program (e.g. AVG) is blocking lmgrd.exe.
  • Server unable to resolve hostname vs IP address correctly.

Solution:

Verify the options below and test LMTOOLS after each:

Lmgrd invalid license file search

Duplicate lmgrd.exe running

Check for duplicate lmgrd.exe processes running in the background:
  1. Start Windows Task Manager.
  2. Under Processes tab, select Show processes for all users.
  3. Read through the process list and if you locate running lmgrd.exe, select it and click on End Process button.

Verify that server is started properly

  1. Stop the server from the Start/Stop/Reread tab in LMTOOLS.
  2. Open License File (<filename>.lic) in a text editor (e.g. Notepad).
  3. Change the server name with 127.0.0.1 or with your server's IP address.
  4. Save the license file.
  5. Start the server from the Start/Stop/Reread tab in LMTOOLS.
  6. Go to Server Status tab and click Perform Status Enquiry.
  7. Verify if the server started properly.

Add exceptions to antivirus

Add the processes lmgrd.exe and adskflex.exe to the exception list. Both executable files are located inside the LMTOOLS installation folder, by default is C:AutodeskAutodesk Network License Manager.
